Chávez made an appeal to the Venezuela's people to defend our oil

Anzoátegui state, Feb 18 ABN.- The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, made an appeal to the Venezuelans in his TV and radio program Aló, Presidente, to defend our oil and our wealth due to most of the our people and other countries depends on it.

The President said that his program held on Sunday 17th was dedicated to the love for the country, Venezuela, and, especially, for the state-run oil Company Pdvsa.

Regarding the imperialist US actions recently taken by Exxon against Pdvsa, President Chàvez decided to start his TV and radio program in the Orinoco Oil Belt, Anzoátegui state.

President Chávez explained that the largest oil reserve in the world is located in the Orinoco Oil Belt, an area about 55314 square kilometers, with a reserve of about 300 billion of oil barrels, ' an oil reserve for 200 years for Venezuela and the world.

He stressed that Exxon Mobil occupied all that area, a fact that most of Venezuelans do not know or do not remember.

'The Venezuelan opposition and oligarchy lost all sense of shame because they do not mind to give the most sacred, in this case, our oil,' the President stressed.

Likewise, he said: 'political parties of the IV Republic try to introduce to the Venezuelan people through a new face but they are same people. They gave Venezuela and betrayed the people, the workers, Bolívar, our heroic history.'

Chàvez explained that the former governments, the congress, the political parties and the Supreme Court of Justice, leaded by the national pro Yankee bourgeoisie, gave the oil reserve located in the belt.

According to the President, Exxon Mobil administered 300 square kilometers of the Orinoco belt, ' it was like to have a gringo country into Venezuela, even the workers were obliged to speak English.'

On that time, the Americans said that the oil, which was heavy, was not oil, they said it was a bitumen and its real price was the same that the coal. Furthermore, they obtained 100 oil barrels but they just paid one, ' it was a sacking; and now they attack us because the revolution suspended all that.'

The President also made reference to an editorial recently published on a US newspaper that inform that if Venezuela stops to send oil to the US, the country will sink because the United States is the only country that have refineries to process the oil.

The Minister of People's Power of Energy and Oil, Rafael Ramìrez, replied that they oil is getting scarce in the world, 'in this sense, the oil producer countries have the chance of diversifying our markets.'

Meanwhile, the President assured that: 'in spite of the insistence of the Yankee lovers, we will never gave our wealthy to the US imperialism.'
